LLEWELLYN'S FOUR ROCKS COUNTY

Final: Stockport 0, Everton 6

First run out for Stockport County in the English F.A. Youth Cup, first round, was against an older Everton team, and their 6-0 defeat was expected. Everton's superiority in attack began to show itself within quarter of an hour, and the first goal came then from inside-right QUAYLE. Ten minutes later Jones, the other inside man and the only professional on the field, scored Everton's second and best goal.

Only a minute had gone by when Everton scored again, this time LLEWELLYN being the marksman. A pass in front of goal by Jones saw LLEWELLYN hot home Everton's fourth goal after half-time. LLEWELLYN went on to get his hat-trick and then went one better with Everton's sixth goal.

'KEEPER FOILS BURY YOUTHS

Bury Youths 1, Everton Youths 3

Bury Youths were foiled by a brilliant display by goalkeeper Johnson in their Second-Round F.A. Youth Cup game against Everton Youth at Gigg Lane to-day. Bury went ahead after three minutes when GANNON put through his own goal. JONES equalised for Everton and the visitors were on top until left-back Grifffiths was injured.

Johnson made masterly saves to keep Everton in the game. Ten minutes from the end LLEWELLYN snatched a second goal for Everton and two minutes later GRIFFITHS settled the issue.

YOUTH MATCH

16th DECEMBER 1955

Don’t forget the youth match at Goodison to-morrow morning, starting at 10.45, when Everton meet Blackpool in the third round of the National Youth Cup. It should be a most entertaining game between the cream of the youth talent of both clubs.

F.A. YOUTH CUP

LLEWELLYN HAT-RICK IN EVERTON’S 5-2 WIN

17th DECEMBER 1955

Thanks chiefly to a three goal feat by centre forward Llewellyn. Everton passed comfortably through to the fourth round of the F.A. Youth Cup by beating Blackpool at Goodison Park this morning.

Blackpool were the dominant force until Jones (B) scored for Everton via the penalty spot after left winger Bartley had been brought down at the 14th minute. Everton took great heart from that goal and were in almost complete command from that point onwards.

Llewellyn scored Everton’s second goal after Quayle had done the spade-work and then Johnson made a brilliant save to deny Minton when the Blackpool side were struggling to keep their chance alive.

A goalkeeping error gave Everton their third goal just before the interval, King scoring from 30 yards and they put on two more in the second portion, each through Llewellyn, the first a brilliant diving header from a Bartley cross.

Blackpool also scored twice in the second half, through Fawcett and Minton, their two best forwards. They had a grand defender in right-back Boardman, but after their poor start, Everton proved much the stronger side, particularly at wing half where King and Gannan were outstanding.

YOUNG EVERTON OVERWHLMED

F.A Youth Cup
A goal in four minutes from Brian Birch have Bolton Youth team a good start in their F.A. Youth Cup match with Everton at Burnden Park yesterday and they subsequently overwhelmed the visitors on a pitch as hard as concrete. After having one shot hooked off the goalline, Deankin the Bolton inside right missed from a penalty after right back Finlay had handled the ball. It was one-way traffic to the interval and in spite of many escapes the Everton goal fell twice more, goals being scored by Riley and centre forward Hart. Hart scored again after the interval when play rarely left the Everton half. Johnson, in the Everton goal made two great saves to keep the Bolton score down but twice was lucky when the ball came back off the post. In the Bolton goal, Dean the 16-years-old youth who is selected for Bolton’s first team on Saturday did not have a shot to handle. Apart from Johnson only centre half O’Shauchnessy caught the eye on the losers’ team with excellent head work. Official attendance was 536.
