4th Round – Away to Preston North End

Drew 0-0, Lost 6-7 on Penalties

Everton's U18 lost to Preston North End in the 4th round going down 7-6 on penalties after the game finished 0-0 after extra time.

Jack Kiersey had the Young Blues's best chance of a tight first half but fired wide while Hornby, Bramall and Morris had chances to win it in the second half.

30 goalless minutes of extra time couldn't separate the two teams which set up a penalty shootout.

Alex Wood was the first to miss from 12 yards, his shot saved by Ben Pierce but Manasse Mampala spurned the chance to put Everton ahead when shot over the bar to keep the score on spot-kicks at 3-3.

The teams couldn't be separated as the shootout moved into sudden death but Michael Collins saw the decisive spot-kick saved.

Everton: Pierce, Morris, Harrington, Denny, Lees, Feeney, Bramall (105' Collins), Kiersey, Lavery (35' Baningime), Hornby, Moore (99' Mampala).
Subs: Hilton, Scully.
